Authors
This section allows you to search through an alphabetic list of author names. For example, to see a list of all variations of the name J. Smith (with and without further initials, such as J. Smith, J.A. Smith, J.F. Smith Jr., etc.), simply enter smith j and click Find. Embase displays a list of names beginning with these letters. Select the checkboxes next to the authors you want to search, and click Go to retrieve articles written by these authors.
Notes:
- Do not use quotes when searching for author names in Find Author.
- When entering a name with more than one initial, do not use spaces between the initials.
- If you are unsure of the spelling, enter a name fragment and then scroll through the resulting list. For example, the entry Weis retrieves names such as ‘Weisberg’, ‘Weiss’, etc. Arrows at the bottom of the page allow you to navigate ahead or back through the list.
- To retrieve all names sharing a common fragment or root in a single step, use Field Search: e.g. type ‘smith j’ (now using quotes) and select the checkbox next to Author name to retrieve all names beginning with Smith J (including Smith J.E. etc). Alternatively, you can search ‘smith j’:au directly in Quick Search.
- You may also search for authors using Article Search form.
